The history of Tilburg Trappers

On 21 October 1938 TIJSC (Tilburgsche Ice Sports Club) was founded. After the club on January 18, 1939 officially recognized, the first game on March 3, 1939 against a team from Brussels played. Tilburg lose this match 6-2. In the 1946-1947 season, the club's first official champion of the Netherlands call.

Because in 1952 the home track of TIJSC, the ice rink at the Alder Street, is closed, a few years no hockey played in Tilburg. With the opening of the skating rink Theresia in 1964 will again change. TIJSC continues under the name TIJSC Tilburg Trappers. After 5 years, the new ice rink Pellikaanhal the new home of the Trappers.
Tilburg wins the competition six times in succession from the season 1970-1971 to the 1975-1976 season. In those six seasons, winning the 131 Tilburg contests, games and losing three times as eight times. In the 1974-1975 season is even 32 times in a row won. From the 1972-1973 season is also the cup competition introduced in the Netherlands. Trappers won the first four editions. Simultaneously, another semi-finals of the European Cup achieved.

After the 80 that are closed without championships, knows Tilburg Trappers in the 90's again three times champion and four times to win the cup. From 1998 the team plays on the current home, the IJssportcentrum. In the 2000-2001 season the club up again the double in 2005-2006 and won the cup again. On Sunday, March 18, 2007 for the twelfth time captured the league title after Heerenveen in the play-off final with a "clean sweep" is sent home: 3-0.

2007-2008 season was very successful for Trappers. The Supercup, the cup and the championship can be won. The Flyers from Heerenveen were again the opponent in the finals series. Tilburg Trappers was March 22 champion in the away match against Heerenveen and ended the play-off final with a 3-1 victory.

In the year 2008-2009 hockey fights Trappers to the main prizes. However, it is wrong on two occasions. In a spectacular Nijmegen Devils 4-3 cup final is too strong, and HYS The Hague on 22 March a sold IJssportcentrum Stappegoor plunges into mourning when the decisive fifth game 2-5 in the finals series into itself.

One year later, Tilburg again in the finals for the championship which will rival Nijmegen Devils. The Gelderland have little trouble with Trappers and win the best-of-five series 3-0. Under the leadership of the technical duo Theo van Gerwen and Nicky Rohde experience Trappers an excellent 2010-2011 season. In-house conquers one HYS The Hague at the expense of the twelfth national cup in club history (6-3). During the struggle for the national title Hagenaars take revenge by Tilburg in five matches back to point (4-1).
